A group of ex-professional footballers building racially and culturally diverse youth teams — developing tomorrow's professionals, and tomorrow's role models, along the way.
About Shosholoza
A group of retired international, ex-professional footballers came together to create a unique social enterprise: introducing Cape Town youth to careers in sport, while developing future professional athletes. We take South African kids from all walks of life — with multi-cultural roots — and form racially diversified youth teams that mirror the face of today's South Africa.
Along the way, our goal is to expose South African U16–U18 youth (boys and girls) to sports-related professional careers, while instilling the ethics, citizenship and leadership skills that let them contribute to the socio-economic welfare of their communities — developing players who succeed academically as much as athletically, on their way to becoming doctors, physiotherapists, nurses, data analysts and biokineticists, to name a few.
Shosholoza Football Academy is a Cape Town based, independent Youth Soccer Development Organization, registered as a Non-Profit Company (NPO), pursuing SARS "Public Benefit Organisation" (PBO) status.
How we work
A year-round program of player development, built on professionally licensed coaches and partnerships that support every player's health, education and long-term wellbeing.
Weekly sessions adjusted by age category, held at our southern suburbs facility with two natural turf fields, evening lighting and changing rooms.
Every player is tracked through Futeval+, our cloud-based performance app — generating reports on technical, tactical and psychometric development for clubs, scouts and schools.
Partner medical staff, nutritionists, physiotherapists, biokineticists and educators work alongside coaches — opening our players' eyes to careers across sport.
Our ultimate goal: a year-round residential academy where players are protected from societal pressures that threaten their development, both physically and psychologically.
Club neutral
The Shosholoza Skilz School offers high performance football skills and tactical training to 8–12 and 12–16 year old competitive players — and a chance for standout talent to be identified for the Shosholoza Football Academy program.
The Skilz School runs as a Sunday morning weekly training session, year-round, at Southfield Primary School.

Our approach
A sustainable social enterprise: the organisation is a registered NPO funded by Project Shosholoza, while player representation runs as a separate, socially-driven affiliate.
Specific, measurable objectives that are monitored and reported to every stakeholder.
Led by professionally licensed, internationally recognised coaches — including ex-SA National Team and international club players — alongside an experienced management team.
Partner medical staff, nutritionists, physiotherapists and educators work in step with our development staff on every player's health and education.
A private-sector-driven, not-for-profit operation — not dependent on government or SAFA funding to keep developing players.
